"The adult ought never to mold the child after himself, but   should leave him alone and work always from the deepest   comprehension of the child himself"
- Dr. Maria Montessori

The toddler environment, between the ages of 18 months and 3 years, provides children with the first experience in a prepared environment. In this environment, the children can explore and develop their language skills, by expanding their growing vocabulary and refining gross and fine motor skills. It also provides social interactions. The toddler environment, designed to be an extension of the home, allows a young child to grow, develop, and gain independence in a safe, loving, and secure atmosphere.

As opposed to some other day-cares that emphasize moving the children to different class rooms, Montessori method emphasizes staying in the same environment for security, comfort and trust while they are performing many different activities all in the same class room.
