The Toddler Environment is unique because it provides a “home-away-from-home” atmosphere, allowing your child the security to relax and embrace the Montessori learning approach designed specifically for this age group. As toddlers become more mobile, they are given opportunities to explore their classroom more independently, receive authentic Montessori lessons, and begin developing an understanding of empathy, sharing, and working together.
Our educators are specially trained in Montessori education for this age group, providing exceptional guidance for your little one during this crucial stage of development. According to Dr. Maria Montessori, your child is experiencing the sensitive period for language acquisition and the developmental stage known as the Absorbent Mind. This stage begins at birth and continues until about six years of age. During this time, children absorb information at a rate that will never again be matched throughout their lives. Providing a rich Montessori learning environment is crucial to their successful development. Pinnacle Montessori provides exactly that for your child in a safe, nurturing, and loving environment.
The educator’s primary objective is to encourage the development of gross and fine motor skills while building each child’s confidence in their own independence. Children at this age are far more capable of doing things for themselves than they are often given credit for, especially when we provide them with the opportunity.
We provide a consistent daily routine because children thrive on consistency. Predictable schedules create comfort, security, and confidence for our youngest learners.
This begins with the educator giving simple instructions that children can easily follow before gradually introducing more complex directions. This progression is always followed in sequence. How is this accomplished? Through line time, games, songs, and the Montessori work cycle. Children learn to choose a work, complete it, and return it to its proper place on the shelf. They also learn to ask for a lesson before selecting materials they have not yet been introduced to. Success comes through routine, consistency, and practice.
From the very first day, our little ones are taught to clean up after completing their work and after eating their meals. Of course, teachers ensure everything is clean and organized afterward, but the goal is never to complete the task for the child. Instead, we encourage independence and a positive “can-do” attitude. Helplessness can be a learned behavior, and rather than promoting it, we empower and support every child.
The afternoon schedule repeats, with the exception of nap time.
